How To Maintain A Portable Toilet During An Event

Blog

If you're planning a large event, such as a wedding reception or bridal shower, you may need additional bathroom options. This is especially true if you're holding the event outdoors, such as in a rustic country barn, on a friend's or family member's private property, or in a garden.

Even if your guests have access to an indoor bathroom, you may not want them going in and out of a residence, or you may need more options to accommodate everyone. In this case, you can hire a professional sanitation company to bring a portable toilet or two to your event space.

To keep party-goers happy and the venue smelling clean and fresh, you'll need to maintain the toilet throughout the event. While you won't need to scrub the portable toilet down during the event, there are things you can do to make sure everything runs smoothly.

Following are some tips for maintaining a portable toilet during a special event:

1. Order Plenty of Potties

The most important thing you can do to ensure clean bathroom options for your guests is to provide enough places to go. If you can, try to order at least one portable toilet per 75 guests to keep them from getting too dirty too quickly. If you're serving alcoholic beverages, or if it's hot out and guests will be drinking a lot of liquids, the more potties, the better.

Having plenty of toilets on hand will also prevent long lines and irritated guests.

2. Hire an Attendant

If the event you're hosting is large and will run several hours, consider hiring a bathroom attendant or two if the sanitation company offers them. An attendant will make sure the portable toilets are stocked with enough supplies, such as toilet paper, seat covers and air freshener. They'll also refill hand sanitizer and soap dispensers as needed.

Although it will cost you a little bit more money to have someone on stand-by, it will ease your mind and free you up to enjoy the event.

3. Do Cleanliness Checks

If you opt not to hire attendants, make several portable toilet cleanliness checks throughout the event. Doing this will help draw your attention to a situation, such as a full toilet, before it gets out of hand. If you see that the toilet is about to overflow, contact the sanitation company and have them come and pump it out.

You can also check to make sure your guests have enough toilet paper, soap, hand towels and air freshener as you do your rounds.
